At VidCon, Panasonic Lumix’s vibrant S9 booth became the ultimate playground for creators, where vivid colors, interactive experiences, and the thrill of winning lit up the convention floor.

Panasonic tasked FGPG with creating an inviting and interactive 20’ x 30’ booth space for VidCon, where digital culture’s most influential creators, platform innovators, and their fans converge.

VidCon, celebrating its 13th annual show with over 55,000 attendees in Anaheim, was the perfect stage for Panasonic’s return after a multi-year hiatus. Their main objective was to showcase the new Lumix S9, the perfect camera for a new generation of content creators, emphasizing its vibrant color filters created through LUTS. They wanted the booth to visually represent these colors and incorporate a fun, engaging activity to draw in and captivate attendees.

Challenge

Panasonic aimed to ensure their booth would be a standout attraction at VidCon, focusing on more than just showcasing their cameras. They envisioned an engaging environment that would draw attendees in and create buzz around the Lumix S9. To achieve this, Panasonic challenged FGPG to design an immersive space that would enhance the camera’s features through vibrant graphics, interactive social media opportunities, and a captivating activation that would resonate with the diverse VidCon audience and keep the booth bustling with activity.

Idea

FGPG introduced several unique concepts during the design phase to create a fun, immersive experience for attendees:

 

Social Media Wall – Attendees were invited to use the Lumix S9 cameras to capture moments within the booth and share their photos on social media while tagging Panasonic and Lumix. These shared and tagged photos were displayed live on a dedicated social media wall within the booth, creating an interactive visual showcase of attendee experiences.

Confetti Grab Booth – Attendees could step into the Confetti Grab Booth, surrounded by a whirlwind of vibrant confetti representing the diverse color capabilities of the Lumix S9 camera. They could capture videos or still images of themselves inside the booth, with the option to share these moments on social media by tagging Panasonic and Lumix. This feature highlighted the camera’s dynamic features and created a fun and shareable experience.

Golden Ticket Game – Twice daily, the Confetti Grab Booth transformed into a high-energy “Golden Ticket” game. Attendees had the chance to catch a golden ticket hidden among the confetti, with one lucky winner taking home a brand-new Lumix S9 camera package per session. This added an element of excitement and exclusivity, drawing even more visitors to the booth.

Huey the Inflatable Color-Changing Chameleon – FGPG’s design team created a standout 10-foot inflatable chameleon character named Huey, who became the booth’s central attraction. Huey, holding an exact replica of the Lumix S9 camera, was equipped with internal LED lighting that changed colors to mirror the camera’s capabilities. Positioned prominently at the booth’s entrance, Huey invited attendees to take photos with him, which were then sent to them as keepsakes and displayed on the social media wall.

Huey the Plush Toy – To extend the booth’s appeal beyond the event, FGPG designed a 10-inch plush version of Huey holding the Lumix S9 camera. These limited-edition plush toys were raffled off daily, creating additional buzz and offering attendees a memorable and tangible connection to the Lumix brand.

Results

Panasonic experienced tremendous success at VidCon 2024, with the Confetti Grab Booth and the Golden Ticket game being standout attractions that drew consistent crowds. The innovative activations not only generated significant buzz on the show floor but also fostered strong engagement on social media, including increasing organic reach through well-known content creators who attended and posted live from the Panasonic space. The Panasonic team was highly impressed with the overall execution and impact of the booth, expressing their satisfaction and intent to replicate the experience at future events.
